Spotlight: Rachel Cargle

Rachel Cargle is an American public academic, writer, and lecturer. Her activist and academic work are rooted in providing intellectual discourse, tools, and resources that explore the intersection of race and womanhood. Her Instagram (@rachel.cargle) engages a community of over 1.8 million through which she guides conversations, encourages critical thinking and nurtures meaningful engagement with people all over the world.

In this spotlight, I would like to specifically highlight Rachel’s 30 Day #DoTheWork course. Each day of this self-governing course provides key insights about racial issues and seeks to drive support for black women who are heavily affected by the impact of racial and social injustice. The course is easy to digest (although at times very uncomfortable), easy to action and really is an eye-opener to the realities faced by people of colour.

The goal of the course is to not only educate, but to also spur and guide people into the action that will help break down the many historic and oppressive systems that exist. Although Rachel mainly references the issues within the United States, much of her resources are universal and directly relates to the issues we face within the UK.

Sending love and light always.
